Why do britons think highly of their country?

When I was in Britain, it was a horrible phase of my life. I am from central asia and few fuc4d up students in my school called me paki which is a ****!n sensless british offensive slang word for anyone of indian or pakistani decent. I'm not either of them and they knew it very well but those british d!ckheads would still call me that. I'm now in the States and I am finding people really nice and friendly plus its richer and a better place to be. When I was in britain peope were real snob heads which I can't figure out why. UK's like close to being a second world country with all those boring victorian buildings everywhere.
