Is it y to put my hair up and wear a ribbon choker for a date? Or just old fashioned?

Putting your hair up would be really good. Though I would skip the choker, I think it would be too distracting. Maybe try putting the charm on an 18" gold necklace, it would look more sophisticated than a ribbon choker.
