Novocaine/Epinephrine side effects?

I had a root c a week ago. Since the procedure I developed intermittant weakness and numbness throughout my body. Last night I developed shortness of breath. I had a similar reaction after a root c about a year ago. That time I did not have the shortness of breath but my legs shook along with the weakness and numbness. Went to the dentist today. He, of course, said it could not have been the novocaine/epinephrine - especially with symptoms continuing intermittently after a week, but he noted on my chart that I was not to be given any "caine" anesthetic again. Has anyone had a similar experience?
